The Hippest Co-op Office Space in Toronto

For over a year now my husband has been officing out of the coolest creative space in Toronto... East Room.  This place is an eclectic industrial mix that is done to perfection!  When you combine black steel doors & windows, exposed beams & pipes, 20 foot ceilings and white brick walls & then you add a mix of mid century, modern & industrial antiques... you get an absolutely spectacular space!
(I want to move in....really, I could live here!)

This old factory was stripped back to its bones by the owners--brothers Derreck Martin (the owner of 507 Antiques) & Sam Martin, to make it feel like New York. It is set up more like a lounge in the common spaces and then as you venture down the hallways, there are offices & boardrooms...well equipped to accommodate all your office needs.   If you are a creative in Toronto & looking for a space to office out of without the huge overhead, I strongly recommend this place.

French Vibe: Tremont Cafe

On one of our recent trips to Collingwood we stopped by the Tremont Cafe.  Every once in awhile you enter a space and think "Wow, this is beautiful"...and Tremont is one of those places.  It feels very French with a bit of an industrial farmhouse vibe.  I loved the beamed blue ceilings, bricked walls and off white decor.  Oh, and the food was pretty good too haha. (I was a little distracted.) FYI the Tremont building itself is home to many local artists, so it's good to go on a day when you have a bit of time to stroll the hallways and visit the studios.

My Fave Store... L e u k

One thing I did on my little sister/birthday/mother's day getaway weekend in Collingwood, ON was stroll through the downtown & browse cafes, art galleries & shops.  I cannot believe how much Collingwood has
changed since I was a kid.

This is where I found my new favorite store....Leuk.   It is beautiful!!!  They actually have two stores...one has accessories, gifts & a floral shop & the other has furniture, clothing & a little cafe.

They actually don't allow you to take photos (which I didn't realize), but I was able to snap a couple before I was told not to take any. ;)

Here's a little taste of their floral section.

(All pics are mine taken with my iPhone.)

I would describe the design as modern farmhouse meets Scandi...two of my favorite styles right now.
Perfection in my opinion...a must see if you're in the area!

Giving the Kitchen a Little Love

The other side of this room (which happens to be our only eating area), our kitchen, is getting a little (much needed) update this week.  I've never really liked anything about this kitchen and just had it painted when we first moved in, over six years ago.   I absolutely love the modern farmhouse look (check out my Pinterest board...hint, hint.) and I'm also loving everything industrial right now.  The look I'm going for is off-black cabinets, wood tones, range hood and white subway tile.  I've decided to keep the bottom cabinets and paint them out in an off black and then only take down the uppers and put up ikea shaker cabinets in an off white.  This is a very cheap reno, and I received a little cash for Christmas, so this is what I'm doing with it.

We'll see how it goes...so far just a couple of hiccups...

Here's some of my inspo...

Chic Urban Decor at St. Paul Hotel, Montreal

This is just a quick post about another very cool space I visited while in Montreal recently.  If you follow me on instagram you know I stopped in at St. Paul Hotel and was blown away by their decor. My husband has stayed here for business many times over the years, and always comes home telling me about how beautiful this hotel is.   Wow was it spectacular!  Talk about drama...such a chic urban oasis.  I absolutely loved all the vibrant rich colours, and so unexpected when entering from such a traditional facade.

Hope you all have a great week!

Our Trip to Montreal Part 2

So this is the amazing all-white loft we stayed in while visiting old Montreal...it was beautiful!  I've mentioned before here how, done right, all white rooms can look stunning and this was stunning!  It might have something to do with the fact that the owner, Azamit, is a fashion editor for Elle Canada.

This headboard above is simply a blank canvas which I thought was a brilliant idea.

This was what you saw when you entered....love, love, love the staircase... so striking with all the white.  And that light...it's made of paper...very cool.  Up those stairs was ...a bed on one side...(check out the headboard... a light against canvas...love the textures) and the other side was a very cool hammock with another paper light.

Azamit is also the creative director for Souk which features items made by contemporary artists from Montreal.  If you live in the Montreal area, she also does pop ups in her home where you can see the items styled.

Staying in this awesomeness made our trip to old Montreal just that much more unforgettable.

It's All in the Details

Have you ever gone into a home and just had your jaw drop at every turn?  Well that happened to me a couple of months ago.  My friend bought this home in Toronto this winter and  invited us over for the evening.  The floors, ceilings, windows...absolutely everything in his home is quality and beautiful.  Unfortunately, the owner doesn't want the whole home shared so I can only focus on some of the details.
Because as you know, design is in the details!

First up is the eating section of the great room,  surrounded by beautiful windows which look out onto a terrace...and check out the coffered ceiling .

Below is a little nook just to the side of the eating area...again surrounded by windows.   The doors leading out to the terrace were mostly windows with an arch at the top and moulding on the lower portion.  I thought it was beautiful how they made the doors and windows with the same detailing in this house.  The pictures don't really do it much justice, but seeing a whole wall of windows as a focal point was quite breathtaking.

The floors were a dark hardwood with a diamond inlay... absolutely gorgeous!

Last was this curved bookcase which was actually in a round room (hence the curve).  It's in a room that has doors again leading out onto a terrace.  I believe they're making it into an office so the lighting will change.  I just thought the detailing of this cabinet was so sweet with the glass cabinets on either side and the footing.  Also, this room had dark hardwood floors in a herringbone pattern.  Here's a wider shot below. You can see how they again panelled the lower portion of the doors.

(all photos taken by me with my iPhone)

Sorry that's all I can show right now.  I'm hoping to go back this summer and take some pics of the garden because it's pretty spectacular too.

If you want to do some custom windows, doors or cabinetry in your own home, you may want to check out Hoffmeyer's Mill.  They've been around for many years and do beautiful custom work.

Have a great week!

Sending Some Sunny Yellow Your Way

 via picklee.com

Ok so I've had enough of this extremely cold winter... I need spring. I'm guessing everyone out there who lives in North America is feeling the same way so I thought I'd cheer (and warm) everyone up with a little bit of yellow.  To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of yellow.  I like it in small amounts.   It can really make an interior come to life by just adding a little bit.  Like painting the inside of the front door yellow or adding a yellow Eames armchair to a desk.

Love the yellow industrial chairs above with the barnboard floors and white walls.

And what a difference these pillows make to this bedroom.  They just add the right amount of colour and freshness to the space.

How sweet is this yellow couch table - no doubt it was a piece of junk before Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper did her magic and gave it a coat of yellow paint.

And here are some yellow flowers for you.

If you want to see more, you can follow me on Pinterest and see what else I'm pinning on my yellow board.
Hang in there...Spring is almost here!!!
