White Linens - Great for Staging or Anytime

AFTER

White bedding is always my "go to" when staging a home to sell.  Not only is white linen very calming, it's timeless, classic, sophisticated and goes with any color scheme.  You can't go wrong when you choose white linen.

This pic above is a home in Toronto I staged a few years ago.  We moved the bed and centered it using the fireplace (which didn't work) as the headboard.  The color on the walls was a beautiful blue so I had the homeowners purchase some blue and brown pillows I had spotted at Pier 1 Imports.

The picture below is the before picture.  By repositioning the bed and changing the bedding, the room worked.

BEFORE

Usually when selling a home homeowners are on a tight budget.  I always suggest Ikea, Target or HomeSense for more affordable bedding.  The great thing about changing the bedding is you get to take your bedding with you.

Some of my favorite covers at Target are the Pinched Pleat, the Threshold Seersucker and the Shabby Chic.  These range from $69.00 - $99.99.  The Shabby Chic duvet cover would be adorable in a little girl's room.  If you want really inexpensive covers, Target also has white comforters called the Room Essentials which range from $19.00 - $34.99.

I also suggest Canadian designer Brian Gluckstein's linens called Glucksteinhome and available at The Bay.

AFTER

Above is another bedroom I staged in Toronto a few years ago.  This was an estate sale and the antique furniture and green silk curtains were gorgeous, so I was able to use them.  I had the homeowners paint the room Beach Glass by Ben Moore and then we re-positioned the furniture - using what they had.

By using white linens on this bed we transformed this room.  I had the homeowners purchase a pillow from HomeSense that matched the curtains and suddenly the room pulled together - magic!

Note:  White linen will also make your furniture pop and this was needed in this room because the flooring was the same color as the bed

Here's the before picture - nasty!

Here are some pics from my previous home and current home, to show you how white linen can work in a child's room.

Here are some bedroom designs from an amazing Canadian designer Sarah Richardson from Real Potential on HGTV.  She uses white linen in many of her bedroom designs.
