Summer Trip to Wasaga

So that was summer...
I started the day with a few tears as my son started college & my daughter started grade 11...but I'm ok now.

I have no idea where the time has gone, but we did manage to get away for some great family time at Wasaga Beach this summer...and yes, it's a complete miracle but our teenagers will still spend time with us.  I don't think I've been to Wasaga since I was a kid...it really hasn't changed that much.  Most of the cottages are very small & a little outdated with the odd one being completely gutted.  I spotted this one on the way to the dog park...yes they have a dog park on the beach, which is amazing for those of us who can't leave home without them.

Check out this beach house...perfection!  Looks like it's in Cape Cod.

This was Axel's first real experience in the water...apparently he can't swim......but he's cute.

We also took a quick trip into Collingwood (because my fave store is there) & ate a very cool new taco place called Bent Taco.  I strongly recommend it!  Oh, & get there early cuz the line up is crazy.

Have a great day!

Little Trip to Unionville

A few weeks ago, I spent the day with a friend in Unionville, ON...such a quaint little town.  The streets are lined with beautiful colonial homes just like this one.  We got our fill of picket fences and gingerbread trim...love all the details.  It's hard to believe that this quiet little town is just minutes from the hustle and bustle of Toronto.  You really do feel like you're stepping back in time.

And just like every area surrounding Toronto, the real estate here is absolutely crazy right now. (In our area, very basic 4bdrm, 3bthrm builder homes are going for about $850,000.00 and are sold within a couple of weeks).  This property just happens to be on the market if anyone is interested, and it's going for about $2.9 mil.  Love the front entrance ...and those doors!!!!  (Yes...I have a thing for doors.)

This one above is also up for sale if you want to take a peek.

A BOUQUET FOR YOU!

This past week I've been picking bouquets of peonies over here...doesn't get any better than this.  I've gone from lilacs to peonies.  Absolutely one of my fave flowers in my garden.  Of course once you pick them they have to go in every room in the house cuz they just smell so good...wish this was scratch and sniff.

I like to put them in all the bedrooms...it's beautiful to go to bed and wake up with that smell.  And just a little advice to parents out there, they make teenagers wake up much happier when you place them next to their bed!  ;)
I also put some next to my daughter when she was studying for exams.

I'm definitely going to be pinning these!

Enjoy your week!

French Lilacs

If you follow me on Instagram you know my love for flowers.   So what a surprise for me a couple of weeks ago when I walked into my friend's backyard and saw her French lilacs all in bloom.  I have a very small lilac that finally bloomed last year, but to see these towering in her backyard was so stunning.  She even sent me home with a bucket of them, which of course, went into every room in the house.

Enjoy!

Some Great Finds at Walmart!

Just a quick note...I found some very cool things at Walmart recently.  This rug is cotton, 5' x 7', and also comes in a black & white stripe.  Now here's the really good part...it's only $39.00!  Can you believe that?   Now we finally have a rug in our living room .

I was really impressed with their lighting department...this little hanging light I picked up was only $36.00 and also comes in gold...how sweet is this?

But this was the whole reason I ran to Walmart in the first place...I wanted to check out this table.  Sadly I couldn't find it... I think it's only available online.  If you like mid-century you'll love it...isn't it cute?

I also wanted to check out this  end table  but couldn't find it (clearly I need to go to another Walmart) . Love this and it's only $79.00.

In the garden department...
I picked up this ginormous fern (because I absolutely love ferns inside and outsidefor only $10.00...these normally retail for about $20.00.

Have a great weekend!
